Hoover Deserves Better.
"He made the announcement at a news conference, ending of months of widespread speculation that he would run for the office currently held by Mayor Frank Brocato."
“Instead of excitement, I hear some frustration. Instead of opportunity, I see missed chances, or worse, maybe opportunities that weren’t envisioned,” Derzis said. “Instead of answers, sometimes we get silence. Instead of leadership, sometimes we get confusion.”
Derzis pledged to support first responders, collaborate with school leaders to strengthen local education, and also stressed financial transparency in city government.
"It finally just resonated in my mind: You know what? I can do this. Sometimes change is good, and I think I can be a positive change. Make Hoover, Hoover again."
Derzis also promised financial discipline and transparency in city government. “Ending reckless spending, making every taxpayer dollar count, and bringing openness and accountability back to City Hall” are at the core of his fiscal plan, he noted.
"Government should serve the people, not the other way around," Derzis said. "As mayor, I will work hand-in-hand with the City Council, hold regular town halls, and ensure Hoover’s government operates with full transparency."
